Also, I live down in texas so snow is basically non existant, and rain is rare. (broke college student).
Lotta times I see decent used tires on CL with stock rims from someone who has gone to bigger meats and rims. Usually can dicker with em for a better price.
My (new to me X) came with BFG Rugged Terrain 265/75-16's on it, and way too much tread to even consider a change at this point, LOL! I found that when I brought it home, the wander was epic, and checked pressure. I believe it was 65 rear and 60 front. I dropped to 50 rear and 45 front, and it's much more stable. The ride is pretty quiet, and mileage, highway anyways, isn't too bad.
I do have BFG AT 32/11.5-15's on my 92 Bronco, and the road noise is ever present. Not that I mind, but you do need to speak up to have a conversation. Tread wear is pretty outrageous, as I've got the fourth set on right now, at 235K miles. I'm impressed at that. You do need to rotate regularly, as with pretty much any truck/tire. Once they start to wear unevenly, they make for a rough ride.
Just curious, why dont 35in tires fit? diameter wise they would fit and not hit the front or back fender it looks like, is it the width of the tire that makes it rub?

With your lift I'm pretty sure 35's will rub.

Pic with 33's 285/75/16 on vcodes I had gained a little over 2inches, no rubbing!
I chose Toyo Open Country AT II in a 295/75/16. This is one of their "XT" sizes that has a more aggressive side wall and larger voids on the treads. Looks more aggressive than a normal AT.
They are 33.4 inches tall and 11.6 inces wide. (taller and slightly wider than most 285s, taller but narrower than most 305s)
I think they fill the wheel well very well but arent too wide for the 7.5 factory rims.
I paid around 200/tire plus install and warranty though Discount. I need to get my post count to 5 so I can post pics...

I am getting very slight rubbing on the back fender well on the driver's side only. No apparent rubbing yet on the leafs, bumper, or any troublesome areas.
I have a 2000 4x4 7.3l with stock suspension. I do plan to do the V/B mod.
The truck does have a little more "sway" at highway speeds when I change lanes.
They are noisier than the 285 Goodyear Wrangler's they replaced, but not that noticable at speed.
Found a set of BFG All Terrain's in 295/75/16 with only 2000 miles on em on craigslist for around 650. Id take em in to discounttire and get them to check/mount them before I bought them. 285 michelin AT
2 new for 1200 or BFG almost new for 650-750 in the bigger size.
Anyone else have experience with the 295/75/16 size in regards to rubbing?
EDIT: Looked on tirerack and it says BFG all terrains in 295/75/16 are all range D, which has a max load of 3415lb. Compared to the Michelin AT2 at a max load of 3750. Does this make the BFG tires a bad choice?
