Walker SoundFX Muffler Review (17809)

My 04 Ram 1500 needed a new exhaust. I had a Flowmaster 40 series on it and was looking for something quiet and cheap. At $27 it was a great deal. It's basically a long cased turbo muffler.

I got the 3" version because I was told that's what I needed by Forums not as good as this one... One potential downside I saw was that it was necked down to 2.5" inside the case. This is common with some 3" mufflers and since I was looking at 3" for fitment, not flow, I didn't mind.

It's got a very deep bassy note to it, very much like an old big block. My dodge has a 4.7 liter so it's a far cry from a big block in displacement. I don't have a tail pipe yet and with a cap that adds to resonance/drone in the cab but it's not bad. I wanted quiet because everything I own is loud and I feel bad about starting something loud at 3am when most people are sleeping. This fit the bill nicely and it's nice that it's not dead quiet. On acceleration it doesn't get louder, the bassy sound just goes away. Performance seems unaffected by the switch.

I'll try and get some video/sound of it and post.

Put a tailpipe on it and shot a video. I used my favorite, the Magnaflow 15003... With the tailpipe the cab noise/drone is gone. Also, I want to be clear, it's a very quiet muffler, the video makes it sound louder than it is.
