49 8BA into a 1942 1 1/2 ton Flatbed

What problems will I run into swapping a 49 8Ba engine into my 1942 ton & a half that has a 59 AB engine .

Thanks Bob

shouldn't have any major issues as long as you also have the tranny for the 8BA. the 59 engine has the bellhousing cast into the block as opposed to 8BA. you maybe able to find an adapter to fit your original tranny to the 8BA engine. all mounts should be the same, upper radiator hoses will be a little different as the 59 heads have water ports in the middle and 8BA at the front of the head. overall it should a fairly simple swap.

You can mate the 4 speed from the '42 to the 8ba by using a "hogshead" bell housing from a 8ba/8rt truck. You will need 8rt truck pumps and everything else is pretty straight forward. I have an 8ba in my '40 1 1/2 ton if you want photos. The cab is off so its easy to see the installation. Email me at:
ovrhtlksoil@msn.com if you want photos or have other questions.

I'll be in Sacramento next week so I'll pick up parts at Sacramento Vintage Ford and save on shipping .
