If you're currently running a floor shift mechanism, put a lock out gate for reverse. A common hinge will work.

The part we can see is to lock it in Park. The detents are likely under the carpet and are what holds it in each gear. I would have expected it to have a similar lock-out for reverse.

Kinda looks like a B&M Unimatic or some knock off. You can get a new shifter for Amazon for about $123:
B&M 80775 Unimatic Automatic Shifter : Amazon.com : Automotive B&M 80775 Unimatic Automatic Shifter : Amazon.com : Automotive

or maybe you can repair yours or add to it with this:
B M Unimatic Shifter 80775 | eBay

Does the bottom have a cable like this and mount to the floor:

update
well seems i had a locking shifter after all ,,someone had used the same side on both sides ,, the locking spot on 1 side was in the front and on the other was in the rear ,, go figure ,, so i match them up and drilled it out ,, there was a spring and a roll pin in there and all ,, now it locks when in park ,, you have to push down to move it to reverse ,,i wish it was that way in all gears ,, you know you spend a bad dollar or spend a good dollar ,,
people kill me

thanks guys for putting up with me

Well thats kinda what i did, there was endent one on each side so i matched them up and now it works great going into park you have to push down to get it out of park, , i think i will do one for drive, , that should be ok i guess, , but i love the video thanks for it gave me some ideas for sure
thanks again
