64/66 Dilemma
I need some advice… I’mnew to the F100 trucks but am trying to learn everything I can. I recently purchased a 1966 f100. My truck has a fairly fresh 1970 302ci with PB,PS, front disk brakes; it’s a very mechanically sound truck. The issue is …as I started to really go throughit I discovered the cab REALLY had some rust issues (floors, both corners ofcab, roof) and would be quite a bit of work to repair.<o
></o
>Here’s the issue; I found and bought a 1964 as a donortruck. I thought that everything wasidentical and I could use the whole cab. It was only when I got it home and compared them side to side that I figuredout the floor lines were different.<o
></o
>Here’s my dilemma; the 64 is in such good shape (RUST FREE!)I can’t bring myself to cut it up to use the floors and corner panels/roof. If the 64 will bolt up to the 66 should I builda 64/66 hybrid ******* truck, or find someone that could use the 64 cut my losesand look for a solid 66.<o

They look the same, but looks can be deceiving. There are far more differences between 1961/64 F100/250 2WD's vs 1965/66 F100/250 2WD's than you're aware of.
1961/64's have a solid front axle with leaf springs, there's a cab step visible when the doors are opened.
The engines use the 3 point mounting system. Two rubber 'donut' insulators at the front, one above, one below the engine cross member.
Bell housing has two 'ears.' One rubber donut per side below the cross member (it's riveted to the frame rails), one rectangular rubber insulator per side above the cross member. Bolts pass thru lower/upper insulators, thru ears, nuts retain in place.
Steering column is different, radiator support is different, engine/transmissions are different, battery location is different, engine/dash wiring harnesses different, has a generator instead of an alternator, upper grille panel is different, parking lamps located on the grille. And etc etc etc is different.
"Custos armorum" Just like the two "Q's" in the 007 films that Sean Connery starred in, there are differences between 1961/64 vs 1965/66.
