parts to keep (before salvaging)...

Getting ready to pretty much salvage the 77 F150. The engine (400) is gone (rings, bearings) and transmission (C6) also has issues. Body is decent for its age. What parts would I want to perhaps get off of it (for the 74 F100 my son drives) before calling up the salvage man? I hate to do this, but I live in a residential area, not the country, and folks are already starting to give me dirty looks for having 2 or 3 vehicles at a time in my driveway, disabled. Not that I really care that much, but stupid city ordinances also come into play.

Thanks-

If the cab and (especially) the bed are decent I would at least put it on Craigs List. It would be a shame to crush a decent body.

Is it an AC truck? Is it green? Does it have a trac loc? Also, hang the grill and inserts on the garage wall, takes up useless space.

....or move

if doors, front fenders are good, keep em/sell em. Glass is handy to keep/sell. If it's got a 9" rear, you might get a few bux for it. good fuel tanks are worth holding onto. If the rear upper shock mounts are good, keep em.

Not leaving you much to scrap huh, lol

If it's got one of the big 28 gallon tanks in the back I'd say keep that as well

Move it out of sight in the back yard or build a fence, or move to a part of town that will let you have 2 or 3 trucks in the driveway. lol

Its a rough call on what to save, I say "save it all", you never know what you will need. About the time you scrap it, you will need something.

Have any buddies with property that might might let you park it/store there?

As far as what to keep, all pieces and parts that are apt to break, wear out and are hard to get.

By the time I send one to scrap the only parts that go are th frame's & rusty body panels. Everything else gets put on Craigslist or up on a shelf. Lol.

I hear ya my shop was so full I had to get a bigger shed and move them all into one place. That is a old pic, its stuffed now....And the Ford lot has the big pieces.....

I hate working on a project and needing a piece or part.

I hear ya. I've been trying clean out everything I've stock piled for the last year & not to buy much. Want to start over fresh with a empty building to organize better

Craigslist is the devil....and Fording (Ford trucks and Ford truck parts hording all in one) is so much fun.

Yes I suffer from Fording....lol but I am selling parts like a wild man these days.

Try having more than one truck...Skitzofordhording. Back in the day, I finally sold ol red white and the #88 Bronco and got the 71 instead.

Bottom line, keep all the parts you can, since they are not making any more at the factory. lol

over.

Dude I had 29 in the back yard & 9 in my driveway at one point in time. Now I'm down to some small parts, a 79 short box & a spare short box that I need to sell. Only thing I'm holding onto is my 77 SWB

I'm in Nebraska. I got my parts listed all over the place on Facebook & locally on craigslist. Only real good stiff I have at the moment are green door panels(2sets), green dash pad, a 77-79 short wide box & a rust free but monster truck lifted 79 short box.
