venting - vendor discounts
Received the notices today from carparts.com and JC Whitney that they will give 20% the whole purchase. So I figured time to get the custom floor mats and cargo liner I want, NO! Get the lovely message that this vendor is not eligible for this discount, what a load!

Yeah those sorts of "too good to be real" sorta emails and contacts are to be carefully, carefully screened, all the fine print read---several times or more.
I've found most times something online is fairly priced, assuming shipping and other nonsensical charges don't eat up any of the savings. While I'd rather purchase most things locally much of what I need or want isn't easily obtainable. Online is the more convenient way since it comes to my door.
The other gotcha about shipping charges are many outfits require you to go through their entire check out procedure including adding your personal information before getting your full and final cost. For this reason alone I "shop" either through eBay or Amazon.
Hope you snag a good buy on your mats and cargo liner---those always seem to hold a bit of a premium price for some reason.
