I just installed some Bilstein 5100 on all 4 corners. Stock truck. No lift.
Now every bump I go over the truck squeaks and creaks like crazy. It's embarrassing. Sounds like bushings? Truck was fine before with the stock Ranchos.
I torqued rear to 46ftlbs and front to 76ftlbs. I tightened the top nut until the bushings compressed 1/4" each.
No instructions came with them. Do I need to lube something?
This was a last minute install before a road trip and they ride great but I'm hoping the noise is something I can take care of.
Could also be the springs making the noise. I have 5100's on my F-250 since 3 months ago and not had any problems. I had Pro-Comps on before and they had over 100k; as soon as I took them off, they fell apart, oil everywhere. I saw RZAR's pics and, WOW, that is something. I am amazed that Bilsteins didn't send him a new set just to keep him quiet.
Sorry about the slow reply! Just got back from a 3000mile road trip.
Yes, I actually put the camper on the same day and it turns out it was the overload spring bushing. I squirted some lube and it went away for a day. Can I replace these with something else? Teflon or something that won't squeak?
The shocks ride nice but those photos are worrisome! All my other Bilsteins have been great but now I'm a little concerned. My main use is daily driver but we do at least 5000 miles with a camper on per year, a lot of it down logging roads.

I have the same problem with my overloads squeaking when Im hauling my camper. I was thinking about getting the Torklift Stable loads. Hoping a little more down pressure on the spring will get rid of the squeak. StableLoad - Lowest Cost, Most Effective Suspension Upgrade Available
I also have a set of Firestone air rides on the rear and wonder if that wouldn't totally stop all that added hop and squeak? It would also add to your overload issues.
