My truck has the add-on air, Mark IV. How do I release tension on the belt so I can change it? Do I just rotate it downward using the big nut on the back of the idler pulley bracket? It looks that simple but I don't want to break anything.
There are so many combos of brackets and pulleys on the aftermarket it crosses ones eyes to think about them.
If you could post a pic of your idler pulley setup we could probably tell you ow to adjust it.
You loosen the bolt on the back side and rotate the pulley.
If the pulley is kinda wobbly(or noisy), like the bearing is bad, you can replace the bearing. Just knock it apart and press new bearing in. I did this one years before I scrapped it.

The bearing in those pulleys was the same exact bearing as the front bearing in the alternator. Ford part number was C9ZZ10094A. Motorcraft number GE21.
yes it looks like that, I put a wrench on the nut on the back side and the whole thing rotated counter-clockwise enough to remove the belt, I figured I'd install it the same way, I just din't want to mess it up.
when the compressor quits I plan to change it all out for a sanden and a differnt style bracket but for now it works so I'll keep it
