I would recommend obtaining a booster, master cylinder, and proportioning valve from a 73-79 F100/F150 (not sure when the 150 came along; 75???) from a salvage yard. Take the proportioning valve apart, clean, and replace O-rings; you can use a Simpson L-Bracket from Home improve warehouse to mount valve to Master to booster stud/bolt; this makes plumbing much easier ( a poor man's version of how the high price complete kits come). You can use the salvaged Master and Booster as core for reman unit(s) or rebuild. Make sure you obtain the two brackets b/w the booster and firewall from salvage as well so the unit will clear the firewall on your truck. The rod from booster to pedal will be too short, you will have to fab a longer rod; you will also have to improvise a firewall seal for the rod (search threads on this forum, have seem numerous innovative solutions). You can plumb in the stock brake light switch to either the front or rear circuit using a tee right off the prop valve.
Enjoy

Check out the booster and see what kind of rod it has. There is a flat bar style and a round rod style. The flat bar style is much easier to modify to work properly with your brake pedal. It only requires drilling another hole in it. The round style rod will require cutting/lengthening the rod and rewelding it back together to make it work. I am pretty sure '78-79 had the round style rod. Here is is picture of the flat bar style:
