It helps if you provide basic information like: what is it, F-100 or F-250. And a manual would be very helpful. Pickup a copy of the Haynes manual for 73-79 Fords. Unless you can find an copy of the Chilton's manuals on Amazon. It will explain a lot.

Ya need to disassemble the lock out and the hub assembly..... gonna have to deal with snap rings, springs, and ya need a special too to remove the spindle nut. Get a set of picks and a hub nut tool.. about $10 each.
I highly suggest getting a manual.... and taking pics along the way cuz there's lots of parts to confuse the novice.
