Hey I put flames on my truck today (check my gallery). OK so it's sidewalk chalk! But what the heck it only cost a buck for a whole tub. It does give me an idea of what I'm shooting for when I do paint it. Best part is if I screw it up or don't like it it hoses right off. What do you all think should I take it to cruise night dressed like this?
I say cruise in it... But you might want to do it on a dark, rainy night!!!
Seriously though, that is even a better way to do it than what I did. I took the hood off my donor truck, washed it down, went out and bought a couple of $.99 cans of spray paint on sale. Sprayed it, taped it off (roughly) then painted the flames. Figured if I didn't like it, for another couple of bucks I could change it. Then when the time comes, I have a template ready!
My clip came from a 80 Mirada. The master cylinder is from an 84 Fairmont. The trac lok 3rd member and rear brakes came from an 81 F150, The 302 came from an 80-86 full size car, The tranny came from an 84 Mustang GT, And the seat came from a 96 Aerostar. I think that covers it for now.
dude thats awesome, lol, ya, go cruising this weekend!!
Hey... Captcarstop, ur a cop? Im 18... always wanted to be in law enforcement, just woundering on maybe ur suggestions? What you think... do u recomend it? What kind of colledge classes should i take??
contact me offline, And I will be happy to talk to you. Be sure to let me know where you live, requirements vary from place to place. I also just picked up my certification to teach at our academy uphere.
Just be prepared with replies like:
"Darned kids will draw on anything"
"I was behind a truck carrying chalk, this was what it looked like when I stopped"
And when you can't think of anything else,
"kiss my differential"
I did it just to check out what it would look like. I knew it would wash off and it's cheap. I may try some other graphics out this way before I settle on a paint scheme but I am partial to flames. It's been about a week and the color is faded and there are bare spots where it rubbed off. I'll probably be washing it today or tomarrow. I have gotten some interesting comments and strange looks. My oldest son (12) calls them ghetto flames.
