privateer there is a few on kiji in the 700 to 900 range with 1 fellow I know in red deer trieing to sell his 77 f150 s/c for over a year now but shes done body is real bad but I may consider it for the propane 460 engine but right now I have as many projects as I want now and with 9 trucks all ready space/parking/wife is starting to be a problem if it quits raining tomorrow I will try to get those mirrors off for you before I get what I need and haul the parts truck to the dump but I will post an ad on kiji 1st to see if any one else needs any thing [I am like you I hate to junk parts as there is ALWAYS SOMEBODY THAT CAN USE SOMTHING] I had a jade green interior that I held onto for 10 years finaly used it in my bronco!
Left hand threads on the left hand side... the thinking was that driving forward would keep them tight, as spinning against the way they rotated could work them loose. It was a dumb idea, a lot of the old military trucks and mopars were the same way. You will find a lot of old trucks in the junkyard with stripped, broken, seized, or torched left hand studs on their d70's. I strongly recommend swapping them out for regular ones. I don't even think you can get replacement left hand threads anymore.
that's reason 1 of 2 for running the stock 16" xlt/lariat trim rings/hub caps those left thread studs are history cant find them any where and it was just as easy to run stock original caps/wheels than to get new after market wheels and install the right hand thread studs for chrome wheel nuts but if I have every thing apart any ways the r/h are only a ph call and a day away I realy am looking forward to this project and if those rear fenders turn out nice this fellow may be able to make a few more if any ones intrested
hey guys I posted a few pics in my galleries under f250 duelly with the vin data plate if you could see any thing that I did not. I found the d70 stamp where you said it was , and this truck is also a 155" wb with the 2.5" wide rear springs not the normal 3" but I am sure I measured aprox 133" the other day but what I may have is a s/c/s frame with a different cab on it? I will measure again to be sure but 155" is s/c wb if I am thinking right
One of the nice things about running 1 ton duallies all my life is that I haven't had to deal with backwards lug nuts. On the other hand, come moving day every one thought my truck was for hire.
I got this guy off of kijiji, he's just a kid that doesn't know what he's doing. Told him I wont look at something that doesn't run. Told him to take his time and not hurt it. It's a 400,auto and I got a 400 w bell and clutch in the yard. I want the truck for the box, plus I can make some $ working the truck until I need the box. Been looking 8 months for a decent box and parts runner, I can wait a week more. Besides the price is right. Seen the silver scab and it's tough, the red one is out of prov. and wont pass.
When you get a D70 on the long wheelbase, 10,000 gvw 78 f350 you get the 35 spline axle. At least thats whats in mine, I forgot was in mine.
meborder lol that's funny about the left hand threads on the d/s let me guess you had a flat tire , needed to change it on the side of a highway , broke a nut turning the nuts to the left with a 3ft snipe thinking wtf and finaly figuring it out WRONG WAY bin there done that [lots of mutter mutter ## after the fact]
close ....
in my driveway with a 4-foot cheater. after 2 hours i finally got one to snap. knowing something was wrong, but not knowing what i took it to a shop (suspected a leaky wheel cylinder which was the whole reason to begin with) to get it looked at.
he replaced the one i snapped and the other one i cranked on. cost me about $100 to have him pull the drum and replace the studs. lesson learned.
in my defense, though, i had never heard of a left hand threaded lug nut before finding these.
me yep close encounter I would say I was just thinking that would be a great theft deterent!! 4 l/h 4 r/h studs/nuts and let them figure which ones turn which way lol I made a call to the fellow that sold me the truck In question it turns out the cab was changed years ago due to getting hit with a tractor on the pass side badly that explains why the weird vin plate not lining up with any thing else I asked him if he had ever seen the truck complete with the original cab and box before repairs he did and explained about the pass side tire door turns out it is a 75 or 76 super camper special!! and carefull measuring confirmed it to be a 140" wb with duel wheels and a flatdeck installed he also thought there was some parts in one of the barns that belonged to that truck and will advise next time he goes over to that farm that also explains the dana 70 and 2.5" wide springs on this truck so now I also have a spare rear end for my 79 s/c/s man what a story!! but now its good to know
That old junker is turning out to be a score. Sounds like a farm truck, changing cabs is normal if you have a good frame and drive train keep using it. I've seen plate steel floor boards. Thats why I had no fear swapping my 78 to a 89 frame. I Finally got everything ready for my brake job, including cleaning and painting everything and now I can finish it off. Expecting to have a rainy day soon and I'll catch up on my album and library then.
Congratulations on going over 1,000 posts Miotti.

Reason: Observant today
privateer I got those mirrors off for you even got all the "t nuts" off the door for mounting not pretty right now but they look like they should clean up nice see you shortly making the plans now
some 2wd's used the narrow frame even though they were not cab and chassis duallies... I had a dana 70 out that was under the rear of super camper special that had the narrow frame.
yup - the SCS (F-350 camper special) trucks had the narrow frame in 2wd configuration. These are the ones with the odd, 140" wheel base.
