Looks like you had something rusty or dirty in your bed.

What's the inside of the bed made out of? Mine is scratched to heck and there is no rust.

I do believe it acts as the paint, no color is applied beforehand. Not sure if primered first.

How does your cover attach to the truck?

Here is my 2 year old bed that has never been protected. It's beat up and has no rust anywhere.

Don't they grind the paint off to install a spray in bed liner. Factory, probably doesn't get painted.

I've had several Rhino liners installed over the years and usually they just run a buffer of sorts over the paint to "rough" it up so it adheres well.

Interesting and good point on the old bed with no rust. I've seen lots of beds with bare spots all over and no rust.

Allow me to gain some clarification. Was the bedliner listed on the trucks window sticker?
Or, is it a "dealer add-on"?
Read all the posts and even now not sure if it is an ABS plastic drop-in liner or a "sprayed in" liner.
In either case, the ABS can not "rust/crrode", as that is chemically impossible. If a true, quality spray in, that is a two part expoxy material that can not rust, however if not applied with sufficent film build there may be minor concerns in some areas, which is usually indicated by the sprayed material "lifting" from the surface.

I used the term "toughbed" in my initial post to imply that it was a factory spay in liner as that it Ford's name. Yes it's on the sticker. I custom ordered the truck.

And there's nothing tough about it. The factory bedliner is soft, I regret not going with a Line-X....
