1988 E250 GCWR?

Hello,
I am trying to find what my '88 E250 GCVW is? I searched and found all kinds of definitions, but no chart anywhere. I am going to be buying a Travel Trailer in the future and was trying to narrow down the weight range to look at. I have my vehicle manual and for my engine/gearing/trans combo it has 3 different GCVW listed. On the different Ford websites I was not able to find anything listed far enough back. I also tried running my VIN and it keeps saying it is an error......even though I have triple checked it. Any ideas?

1988 E250 7.3IDI
3.54 gears c6 <!-- / message -->

It doesn't have the GCWR, it just has the GVWR which is 8500lbs and the front/rear GAWR.

The vehicle is as follows:
1988 e250 ClubWagon 2wd
7.3 IDI Diesel
c6 trans and 3.54 gears

It also has a frame mounted hitch, brake controller and auxiliary trans cooler added in series with the stock radiator one ....will have a weight distribution and anti-sway as well.

What is the axle rating then? You should get it on the scales to be sure of what it acctually weights empty.

E-rated LT tires? I would want them over P tires.

Based upon what you have indicated I think something around a gross of 8K for a TT would be ok.

I don't think I would want more.

The axle rating is 6340lbs. I will put it on the scales to find its weight, but I think it is somewhere in the high 5k low 6k area, It was about 6.5k at the scrap yard scale with an empty double snowmobile trailer.

It has E-rated LT tires, 7-pin/brake controller and a frame mounted hitch w/2" receiver (not sure of the class. Secured by 2 bolts each side, may upgrade).

I will be adding a weight distribution hitch and anti-sway along with a Trans Temp gauge, EGT and Coolant temp gauge.

Wanting to set it up for a nice vehicle to take road trips/vacations in for the 5 of us. Lots of interior room and a TT to stay at campgrounds when needed......plus my son plays travel soccer and staying at hotels for weekend tournaments can get expensive with the whole family.

I think 8 K gross is gonna be about it. That would give you a tongue wt of 850 lbs. 850 lbs goes against your cargo/payload in the van.

You can save a bunch by doing campground/dry camping on those trips. We stay lot at Walmarts and stuff and then every third night at a campground so we can dump and resupply fresh water.

Thanks, that is kind of my thoughts, just wanted to check with the "Experienced" people. Adding the 850lbs to vehicle curb weight along with 5 people, another 600lbs, and whatever luggage etc we carry in the van would put us fairly close to the GVWR of 8.5K.

I am thinking of about a 30ft TT with couple of slide out. Still debating on a bunkhouse style, or having the kids sleep on the couch/dining etc beds. Leaning toward the bunk house style for them. Ages 5,9 and 11.
