Another option that has proven very successful in dealing with the shudder issue are StableLoads. We specifically chose product evaluators that had the F150 shudder issues to have them evaluate the effectiveness of the StableLoad in curing this problem. They reported that the StableLoads did a fantastic job handling this common issue.
The RAS system (like air bags and other add on systems) adds a spring system that effectively pulls weight off of the factory's lower leaf suspension overloads. The StableLoads pre-engage the stronger factory lower leaf spring, giving added support to the suspension the vehicle was designed to have.
Part # A7310, the StableLoad Quick Disconnect, is no-drill and will easily install with RAS or other suspension add-ons in place, or work by itself, pre-engaging the lower factory leaf spring overload, to provide the ride and support the factory intends for the vehicle.
It is also a much lower priced solution at up to 50% less than airbags and RAS, MSRP is $279.00.
You also have the ability to easily disengage the StableLoads when not towing or hauling.
I have to agree with Jen, the StableLoads should be effective for this situation. And the come with the added benefit of not making for a crappy unloaded ride.
I just spoke with the service manager at my dealer and he said that the customer service rep will agree to $600 towards the installation of an AirLift kit. I said it is a shame that I bought a Platinum from their dealer and they will not include the in the cab controls for it. (which would cost them another $600 or so)
Jen I have the StableLoads and will install them soon to try that out. I have been waiting for the dealer to make their decision on what they are willing to do in regards to this vibration issue and didn't want to add anything before they had the chance to try and make it right.
Tom...it was my understanding that the airbags empty do not change the ride quality at all of the vehicle. Is this incorrect?

Yup, that's correct, airbags inflated to the minimal pressure don't affect ride quality much. I was referring to adding another leaf to the spring pack that's been suggested before.
