I've got my eye on a '62 C550. It's in pretty good shape- Needs a little body work, but seems good mechanically. It's got a 6 cyl, manual transmission. I'm a little worried, however, about finding parts- I know it needs a new brake cylinder, and is going to need some new tires in the near future... I know that I've heard horror stories about trying to find wheels/tires that are compatable with these older trucks. I know NOTHING about big truck tires. Here is what is on there now-
Rear-
They are 7-22.5"-
Front-
I think they are 8.25-20
So- Can I find parts for this truck?? Can I get tires/Wheels? Without, of course, spending a small fortune...
Your rear tires are 22.5 tubeless? If so, you are good. Those tires might be old, but the wheels are what you want. 5 lug 22.5s are almost impossible to find if what I see here is correct. (several threads and searches recently)
Are your fronts tubeless?
Some tire links here, as well as discussion. That guy had the 6 lug wheel, making it easier to find the 22.5 wheel like you have.
I've only briefly looked over the truck, Not sure about the rear axle, etc. I'll have to check next time.
As for intended use- I should have mentioned that it the post- It's just a toy that I'll drive around occasionally on the weekends, and to a parade or local show... I just like it because it's COOL
The fronts are widow maker 20s. You'll want to find a couple 22.5s for the front, and you'll want to make sure the inner duals aren't widow makers too. I'll ask a couple friends to see if 22.5s are available. Stu

Post the VIN and all the codes stamped on the Warranty Plate, located on the inside of the glove box door.
