New to the forum and new to ford any info?

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and I just bought my first ford. It is a 1969 F600 dump truck (with rock style bed not grain), it runs and drives good but it has a broken brake line, I got another line and now I need to put it on, anyone have any tips for bleeding the brakes? I have done brake work before on my 81' 1 ton chevy but I don't know if it is any different?
I was also wondering how much weight this truck can haul? I would like to start hauling gravel for some driveways and I was wondering how much to put in it?
Thanks for anyone's help

if you look on the door of you rtryou truck there should be a warranty plate. there will be you GVW. scale your truck and subtract that from gross and you have how much you can haul. for the brake line i dont know how to do it

Thanks, I'll half to look later because I don't have the truck here, I just bought it but I don't want to drive it 50 miles without brakes so I'm hoping to get them working then drive it home.

yah driving without brakes is not smart. if you cant drive it, tow it home so you have more time to figure the brakes out

I always fill up the master cyl then crack all the wheel cyls first and gravity feed them while the cap is off, tighten them back up, then top off the fluid again replace cap and start with the hydrovac and bleed out the fitting there until a steady stream comes out, then work to the back on each side bleeding them until a steady stream comes out of each of them then work up to the front and do the same thing. By the time your around th the final one you should have a good pedal. I have found its best to have the other person in the cab and have them pump the pedal 6 times and hold it then until while your cracking the fitting then they yell out when the pedal hits the floor. make sure to check the master cyl often as you will go thru alot of fluid while working around the truck. If you dont have a good pedal start over. Or if you have a mightyvac system you could hook that up thru the master cyl and bleed it out that way. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping to get the brakes fixed and bring it home Monday, the people I bought it from said not to worry about the brakes and I can just down shift it and use the emergency brake!
I told them that there was no way I was going to drive it without brakes.
I drove a 74' Chevy C60 8miles on country roads with out brakes once, the old thing would not down shift and it was a nightmare.

Thanks again for the info on the brakes, I'll give everyone a update when I work on it.

Ha I wouldnt be too worried, I bought mine at the auction then learned the brakes didnt work so I drove mine 35 miles with no brakes home, just double clutched and used the hand brake at traffic lights. Its alot easier then an automatic. It shouldnt be too big of a deal on that truck as long as someone didnt try and use the brakes alot while it was out of fluid and turned up the seals on the master cyl. If you get brake fluid on the floor of the cab while bleeding then you know your putting a master cyl on as well. Also just fyi if someone has repalced the wheel cyls in the recient past they chenged the bleed screw to a metric size instead of sae, couldnt leave well enough alone I guess.

The guy I bought it from said he already replaced the master cylinder, but I can't be to sure about that because his wife told me over the phone that the brakes worked, we got there to look at it and he said that he was trying to bleed out the brakes when he broke the line.
Thanks for the info

Got the brakes working yesterday and drove it home.
The old truck runs pretty good, thanks for everyone's help and info.
Here are a few pictures of it, I am going to remove the grill guard and put on a different one because the one on it is ugly!

I'm hopping to use it around the farm, I've been hauling manure to our garden (garden is over 1 acre) and I got tired of shoveling it off of the trailer and pickup so I decided to buy a truck. I would also like to haul gravel and make some driveways.
I thought buying a cheap truck would save me money instead of hiring the rock quarry to haul it. I only paid $750 for it so I don't think I could of gone to wrong.
We also heat with wood in the winter so it would be nice to dump the wood off instead of throwing it off by hand.
I need to do a little work to it before I can use it, like I need to find a bell housing cover for it.
