Red's Headers hitting steering linkage on bumps...anyone else had this?
My Red's Headers fit my flathead great and went in pretty easily. I have my true dual exhaust all done except I am noticing a problem. The headers hit the steering linkage on bumps on the road. It is isn't a real serious issue but I plan to take out some of the leafs to lower the truck and I dont want to break off a header bolt.
I have read many praises on here about Red's. Anyone having this problem as it is hard to believe it is only my truck?
Well, here are the photos finally. I spoke with Jim at Red's. He told me that it may be my motor mounts? He said they originally made these for an F250 but from the looks of Ross' photo, the bigger trucks have alot more room than an f100. Thoughts?
Different type of headers than mine. I don't see how that's going to work, you need at least three more inches to allow for axle movement, and you're talking about lowering it further. Long-tube headers on a flathead don't do much good, see if Red's will take them back.

I know from searching on here, I am not the only one with a flathead and longtubes on here...
Would new motor mounts make a big enough difference and do I need to pull the motor to change them?
I have to wonder if the "Modern" designation on Red's ad means Mustang II suspension.
Ross, Red's makes these headers for the truck I have with stock suspension. I have talked to them. They know what I have and have seen the pictures and they are telling me that the only problem they have ever had with this type of issue is very worn motor mounts.
They are not for a M II type of suspension. Long tube headers look the best, imo.
