I replaced my rusted out vapor return line with fuel line a year ago. No problems so far. I bet that vapor retun line is $200-$500 from the dealer. Let us know how much it is.
My metal line is okay so far, just the rubber parts are looking shabby...but you are right, it will probably be expensive at the dealer.
So far, I cannot find the rubber hoses on any website that offers Ford parts. They don't even list it. Will get to the dealer counter soon and find out if THEY can even find the part on their computer.
I read up on it. It seems there is a permeation level needed for the vapor lines that regular fluid lines don't have. I read that vapor will eat the regular lines from the inside out and causes them to collapse. Comes from people who know alot more about rubber manufacturing than I do.

Just to further confuse this issue..............wondering if some sort of generic harder plastic line wouldn't work too---as long as its connectors would be vapor tight too?
A WAG but a liquid fuel hose typically wouldn't have a lot of vapor to absorb? If vapor vs liquid in this instance makes a difference its puzzling why 'tis so.
