I am swapping in a 460 to my 78 150. The engine is from a car and the alternator is low on the passenger side about 1/4" from the frame. Besides buying the brackets from L and L or making some up what has anyone else done that has run into this problem?
This is the 460 engine that came in my 79 F-150 super cab and as you can see it was mounted low on the passenger side. I believe you just need to look for a 78 / 79 truck bracket. If i still had the engine i could get the part number off of it for you . It may be that "Number Dummy" will do that if he sees this thread.
The parts catalog shows three pieces make up the alternator mount for the '78 F150 w/ 460, the front bracket, the adjustment arm and spacer.
Front bracket D0VY-9B450-A
Spacer (cut to fit) D0VY-10A370-A
Adjustment arm D0SZ-10145-A (Motorcraft p/n GY-939)
This is one of those part numbers that's quite often entered into inventory with a wrong number. The zero is often eneterd as an alpha "O" instead of the numeric "0". I search both ways.
With the p/n as zero

Bob Allen has one, but trust me, easy to fabricate and MUCH, MUCH cheaper than buying from Bob Allen .
I knew there were some more parts that are not in that picture but i forgot what they looked like. That engine has been gone for sometime now and i thought some body would come along with those numbers . Hope that helps him .__
