my 81 f100 the rear end of the truck likes to jump when i hit the smallest of potholes it will literally jump 2 or 3 feet either direction any ideas before i enter it in the calavarous county frog jumping contest
I'm thinking shocks. Their purpose is to absorb the energy created by hitting a bump/hole. In that process they keep tires from being worn prematurely and unevenly. Push hard on the fender by the taillight one time and release. The truck should basically return to its original position right away, not continue bouncing.
I'm always amused seeing vehicles going down the freeway bouncing uuup and dowwwwn!!
x2 on the shocks. Before I replaced mine, I could turn onto a certain road here and when the back would hit a rough spot in the road the back would fishtail. Not fun when you're a couple feet from a concrete divider.
And then couple that with me having some wide back tires (275/60/15) on the narrow stock Ford wheels (15x6) and you've got some bouncy roadwalk at 60. It felt like I hit a patch of ice, and it was in the summer...
