Extremly Technical Door Glass type Question

When I replaced a window in my 52 the washers were oiled and extremely flimsy - I took some cloth from the dog's blanket and cutout washers, I ended up using two layers to make them thick enough that I felt comfortable with - Before I installed them I soaked them with 3 in 1 machine oil then squeezed the excess out of them - The "Specs" I used were drawn directly from my butt and how I felt at the moment - That was over a year ago and so far nothing has exploded and the window continues to crank up and down with relative ease.
