Stripped Threads in Carb Inlet Peice

I posted this in the I6 section, and got no responses, so I'm back here again.

I recently ended up with a 66 F100 with a 240 and 3 on the tree. Runs great and just been going through fixing all the nickle and dime stuff. It had a steady drip coming from the inlet to the carburetor. I assumed it was a leaking o-ring, but when I unscrewed it, it fit loose and noticed the threads were stripped on the inlet piece (don't know the exact term for it). Threads are fine in the carb housing.
The carb is a Motorcraft with 3507 stamped on the side. I did some research and was led to the Napa carb kit CRB 25579
NAPA AUTO PARTS

I wanted to see if anyone knows where to source one of these, or if they come in any rebuild kits?

Did you have a question or just sharing?

The carburetor is likely not stock since Motorcraft didn't come into play until about 1972. Probably originally had an Autolite 1v (1100).

Does it screw into the carb inlet and then the fuel line screws into it? My Autolite 1100 on my 1966 300 6 cylinder looks sort of like that but not quite the same. I'd call it an adapter. Mine is much simpler without the passages coming out the sides or the black tip. I think mine has one of those old Weatherhead logos on it.

I looks like they might have slightly jury-rigged that part in there if it is what I think it is. If it is the adapter I can probbaly take a picture of mine and get thread pitch off of it.

Motorcraft 1100 series would be a 'service part replacement' carb for 1965/68. Motorcraft didn't exist prior to 1973, some 1969's, 1970/72 & 1973/79 240/300's came with Carter carbs.

Original carb ID tag triangular shaped, mounted to airhorn, probably missing by now. Look on the base of the carb for a stamped ID number, post what it is.

Left: 1965/69 240/300 Auto-Lite 1100 / Right: 1973/79 240/300 Carter.

Yes.
From looking at pictures of some of the rebuild kits, they look to have just a piece of pipe adapter without the little valve built in.

ND, I'll try to get some numbers off the carb tomorrow.

I haven't seen your carb but it's the piece that screws into the airhorn where the arrow is pointing, and the part itself is not displayed in this diagram, correct?

Yes, that's where it screws in. I'm doubting I could just use a standard pipe adapter, only because of the little valve in the end, but I don't know.

I went out and couldn't find any numbers on the base of the carb, and the tag is definitely long gone.

Forgot I had an old 1bbl Holley sitting in the garage in a box. Pulled the inlet off of that, as it has the same thread pitch.
Cleaning out the threads in the carb, I can see that the original fitting lost it's threads because someone cross threaded the piece in there.

Alright, cleaned the threads up, but after looking down in there, I discovered this is the valve that limits fuel going into the carb when full. I can see a cam in there that closes this valve when the float goes up. No go on the pipe fitting.

I'll post some pics of the carb in a minute.

Took the carb off the truck, and lo-and-behold, all the numbers were on the back, along with a Holly Reman sticker. Should be much easier to find the part & kit now.

Stamped in Carb:
DOPF-9510 C
4526-1-2922

Holley Reman Sticker (Dated 1984)
636677
64-5164

If the ID number prefix is D0PF and its suffix is one letter, it has to be a G .. as there's no C listed in the truck parts catalog.

Verify suffix, as there's also: D0PF-9510-AC which is a different carb and uses a different carb kit than the following:

ID number: D0PF-9510-G = Ford part number: D0PZ-9510-K .. Holley 1V Carburetor (Motorcraft CA-745-A) / Carburetor Parts List #95.34F

1970/72 FoMoCo "service part replacement" for specific 1961/69 Holley 1V carburetors.

D0PZ-9A586-A .. 1V Holley Carburetor Kit (Motorcraft CT-223-A) / Obsolete

It is a G, not a C. Hidden behind the throttle linkage.

Obsolete does not bode well for this...
