Please help with my 1997 F-350 7.5l exhaust

I have an issue and need help. I drive a 1997 F-350 XL but i want to put an exhaust on it. I like true duel and I love deep and aggressive roll. But because i live in Maryland it has to go through emissions and they are kinda strict. So I have no idea how to get an exhaust like I want. Any tips or suggestions. PLEASE HELP!

You can probably use high flow aftermarket catalytic converters in a true dual system and pass emissions as long as the engine is in good working order. Then just put your choice of mufflers down the line from the cats.

Or you could do a cat-back dual (not true dual) with your choice of muffler. Keep your emissions equipment and just go with dual pipes off of it. You can get a nice sound out of it still.

Go on YouTube & check out sounds of trucks like yours. Or go to a muffler shop & talk to them since they will know the laws etc.

As Craig says, don't be afraid to just go to a shop that does that kind of work and ask them about it. Hopefully you'll find someone who really knows what they're talking about, and they'll be able to tell you exactly what to do or what not to do. Most of us on the forum don't know the exact requirements within your state and locality, but a local shop should be able to tell you what you need to do to stay within requirements.

Good luck!

don't waste your time with true duals. more money, more work, more potential for problems, and no performance gain whatsoever for that application. you'll actually lose low end tq with true duals (hence the time waster). get long tubes, fab up a y-pipe or pay someone to, and use a 3" high flow cat. you'll pass emissions as long as everything else in the emission system is in tact.
