Tire Size

Does anyone know the maximum 16.5 size and width tire that will fit on a 77 F250 Ranger XLT that hasn't been lifted (stock height off ground)?

Thanks.

If its a 77.5 lowboy, you can run 33x12.50x16.5 and have no troubles unless you really push it off roading, then the front fenders top edge might rub a bit.

I run that set up on my silver 77 plus a JC Whitney add-a leaf on the front to level it a bit and keep that from happening.

I would guess 35's might fit, but would be really tight on the front end though

I ran 35" Ground Hawgs on my 77 highboy but had to trim the lower front of the front wheel well as the aggressive tread would hit when turning.

Your truck looks like it's about the same height off the ground as mine, but to understand correctly, you are talking about a low boy. Apparently there are low boys, high boys and whatever else and they have different heights off the ground. How can you tell which model truck you have and what the height of it is?

Additionally, because your truck looks about the same height as mine I'm going to assume for now 33x12.50R16.5 will work. However, I'm afraid to buy any used tires with rims until I find out what the differences are in heights between the different models (i.e., low boy, high boy, etc).

Thanks.

I just did some research and I wish I would have done that before I did the above post. I now know there is a lot of differing opinions about what the differences are between a lowboy and a high boy.

The other thing is, 77 & 79 gave me enough info to work with when he said, "if its a 77.5 lowboy, you can run 33x12.50x16.5". That's what I needed to know.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out on this.
