I dove back into another search to locate the plastic horn button base on a mid fifties stock horn button with no luck. The reproduction horn buttons include a new plastic base but cost $50-$60 dollars and I already have stock buttons. I just need the base. Does anyone know where these might be available? I have called everyone I can think of who sells the reporduction buttons but no luck. The button is attached to the plastic base with several little "tabs" that can be bent back on the stock button to replace the plastic base. Every plastic base I have ever come across is broken and missing pieces that broke away.
If you don't want to buy a complete repo button I'm fairly sure you'll just have to find a good used one. I don't recall ever seeing just the plastic insert for sale by the aftermarket. I may be wrong though...

As original, the horn button is one piece, as you can see.
And, the 1953 horn button is 1953 only .. as it was marked with something like this: 1903/1953 Ford Motor Company Golden Anniversary.
1960: Ford replaced the buttons used 1953-59 with COTF-13A805-D .. 1960 Horn Button (Obsolete), will not look quite the same as the originals.
There are 52 available NOS / GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 20 = 800-543-4959.
Understood, I was hoping to find access to a reproduction manufacturer who would sell the parts seperate before they are assembled. I have a nice collection of buttons but all the bases are broken. Hoping someone one here may have found a source, or have one available with the plastic base still good and want to sell it.

Maybe call a vendor, like Mid Fifty, and see if they will tell you who they buy from. Worth a shot I'd think.
Already that. They referred me to Dennis Carpenter and Dennis Carpenter does not sell the base seperate from the button. Could not get the source of the manufacturer from DC to call them to see if available seperate. There are three small metal tabs on the metal part that hold it to the plastic part. I asked the sales person at DC if they made off shore and he tried to look it up but was not able to find it or put me in touch with who might know. He referred me to a small company who specializes in "used" parts.
So while on the subject of horn buttons, does anyone know for sure which button is the correct button for the 1956 ford f-100? All three of mine had the horn button with the lightening bolt in the center with a red back ground.
I think the red on is for 1956. The correct one for 54-55 is the one with 5 stars and a gear and lightening bolt. The 53 button is, as Bill said above, is the 50th anniversary button.
I had 2 used buttons with bases this winter that I sold on ebay. I am sure you can find a used one at a flea market.
