I think I would like to put rear steer on my new project truck, what do you guys think? Good idea or not? And has any one here ever had any dealings with such a setup, or any one ever had one, guys give me a list of pros and cons.
It is expesive and time consuming. Get your project truck built. Then if you are unhappy with it do rear steer. Go to a couple of truck shows, or large events and just see how everyone else does it.
whatch doin' on a computator at teen 'n nah mornin' 'nstead Ah wrenchn'
Soundn' like y'all just's need's to do sOm trail'n erroring.
all you need is a pto hydraulic pump, or just your powersteering pump and a hydraulic ram. Have you seen the latest Monster Garage? they did it to an early bronco.
Still fishing for ideas, throw what you got my way, ill throw them up against the wall and see what sticks. And look at my other truck (click on the 1976 highboy link in my signature) first. I don’t want to do too much the same
a friend of mine put rear steer on a truck of his, but I never saw it. He said all you need to do is go to a "heavy equipment" graveyard that has a lot of argirucltural stuff. I guess you can get everything you need pretty easy.
well I’m thinking it should be controlled in the same manner as the monster trucks. With a pair of switches or buttons on the drivers’ door or even in the floor board, as so you can turn them any direction you wish at the moment you need it, and a self center button, as for highway speed I’m thinking of some sort of manual lock out pin. (You got to get out and remove the pins before it will function)
