I have an '87 250 6.9idi 4x4 w/ 4spd. Anyhow, both my driven gear and drive gear for the speedo are flat. The speedo cable also got twisted in half. This is the second time I've replaced all 3 components, so I'm guessing I'm having a problem with my speedo gauge itself.
So first off, is there something I can do with the gauge (fix it, or lube it). Or would it be best to try and find a replacement.
Second, assuming I can either fix or replace my speedo, I can't for the life of me find my speedo gears anymore. The last time I got a set, I bought the 2 sets that have been destroyed. And it took years of driving around w/o a speedo until I finally found a Ford Dealership that found them. And I haven't had any luck finding anymore.
It's been a while since I've screwed around with it (one of those problems I only care to deal with once in a blue moon), but I believe it was light green drive gear and dark red driven gear. I'd like to have it working again, but I can live w/o it.
I appreciate any advice/thoughts.
