ok i need help i have a 1976 F-250 hi-boy with 44 boggers on her and i keep getting stoped for speeding. the speedo reads way too low. it has a NP435 and divorced np205 with speedo gear in transfercase anyone know where i can get calibrated gears for this? Thanks
The Ford dealer stocks alot of the plastic gears that go on the cable. You just need to do the math to figure out how far your speedo is off. Figure out the % that it is off, then count the number of teeth on your stock speedo gear, then multiply that number by the % it is off.
Example If you have a 15 tooth gear and your speedo is off by 20%, then multiply 15x1.20=18. you would need to go with an 18 tooth gear.
I can help if you know how many MPH it is off, and what speedo gear is on the end of your cable.

hey cool, I have the same problem....I had better luck than Crazy_John69 though.....I happened across one of those neighborhood watch radar trailer readerboard thingys before I happened across Mr. Bear with his radar gun and ticket book.....I am bout 15mph off at 55-60 (so I coulda been really screwed since I always drive about 9-10 mph over the limit).
I dunno yet, I just know tha I definitely have oversized tires, and when I went by that trailer, the speedo said about 55, the reader board read 70. And I know it was me cause I was the only one on the road downrage of the radar beam at the time. I am going to have a big workfest on my truck in a couple weeks, so I will prolly check it out then
An alternative would be to take it to a speedometer shop get it repaired and take the reciept and see if you can get the ticket droped. Here in Fla you have X amount of days to correct the problem and if you show them a reciept of repair within that time they will drop the ticket.

the spedo is way off in my 79 bronco, I swapped the original tranney and t-case from a 78 bronco, same setup, and used the original spedo gear, and it is off, did a similar swap on my crewcab and it is also off, are the gears inside the transmissions different?
