You may have won that fairly but the only way to do it right is with a weight sled. Bumper to bumper has too many variables like reaction time. If you get the jump you can win that one with an inferior truck. Also just the slightest difference in hitch point heights will give the higher one a great advantage.
Yes, I agree, the driver and set up is critical. But the main point I was trying to make was the chevy driver wanted no part of my truck. His set up was nearly identical to mine. His tires were a tad bigger and he most likely had a few more ponies. But after watching my Ford do it right. He was very vocal about not hooking up to my Ford. I have several witnesses to his yelping.
I'd love to tie onto a 2002 chevy 4X4 or just race one in the 1/4 mile. At some point, somebody will take the challenge.
