does any one know the hieght differance between a 31x10.5x15 and a 235/75/15. and would the 235's give a better or smoother ride, would ther be any handling differences. if i put 235's on would my speedo be off by a major amount?
thanks
You can go to this web site and get all the information with their calculators http://www.4lo.com
For quick reference the 235's are 28.9 inches tall and 9.3 inches wide. My thoughs wider will handle better gripping the road more I think my 95 handled much better with my new 285/70/15 (approx 31'x 11.5') compared to the 235/75/15
The amount the speedo is off will vary with speed and that can be checked on the site as well by selecting the proper calulator.
Go with the bigger and wider, handling wise and for looks as well as off-road performance.
So much depends on the particular tires you are looking at. For example, a P235/75 (Passenger car) is going to feel soft and mushy compared to an LT235/75 (Light Truck). Not good when it comes to handling. On my '85 Bronco, I had a set of 33x12.50x15 BFG A/T's. They seemed to be OK. When they wore out, I put on a set of Michelin LTX M/S in the same size. They were smoother, quieter, and handled better than the BFG's. So, it's more of a tire to tire comparison than strictly a size issue.
