Extended warranties

Bought a new Eco in May and Ford makes you finance 3 months with them for an additional rebate. My question, next month I can refi and the dealer is pushing for Ford's extended warranty which seems pretty expensive. Where are you guys that are purchasing aftermarket extended warranties going for them and how much? Would like something for 100,000 miles. Tried to do a search but couldn't find any threads.
Thanks,

I bought my extended warranty for my F150 from Troy Dietrich with Ford of Greenfield. Best price I could find, I think he may be a sponsor here as well. Ill be buying an extended warranty from him for my wifes Fusion as well.

There are several places online that sell real Ford ESPs (they don't have to be purchased when you purchase your vehicle). Google Ford ESP. Get a few prices, take those along... watch the dealer's $2800-$3500 extended warranty turn into $1500 or less. And make absolutely certain that you're buying a Ford ESP - not an aftermarket.

Thanks,
Where did you see that you need to make 3 payments? My dealer told me 1 was fine and then re-finance.

I got mine from the dealer. They hadn't offered it for very long before I got my truck last February (2012).

Some dealers will tell you to make 3 payments before you re-finance.

Two reasons:

1. That gives them time to get the finacing bonus back from Ford.

2. Most people are lazy and won't carry through with it.

I have done 2. The first one we re-financed before the first payment.
The second I actually waited 3 payments.

Extended warranties r a complete waste of money except maybe on the eco, if it does not break in 5/60,000 on drivetrain should be good. U need only make 1 payment before re-fi..

The warranty mileage refers to actual miles on the vehicle, not miles driven past the factory warranty. Unless you broke the bank I am willing to bet that the 100,000 miler you have is like mine and expire when the truck reaches 100,000 miles total.

I bought the 5/60k bumper to bumper on mine. They put it in the payments (I know you are not supposed to do this) - - - - but, by doing it, they brought my interest rate down on the balance of the truck down another full point. They told me I had to finance with them for 6 months before I could change it. But, they ended up beating my credit union, USAA and every other rate I could find. It also includes oil changes for that mileage (I think the whole time).

No, I bought the truck at 75K (approx, more like 73K) And I purchased a 5yr/100K mile warranty from time of purchase = 175K Miles. It unfortunately was not a "Ford" Warranty but covers powertrain/4x4 parts/seals for the same $100 deductable. The dealership even mentioned that I would be on the close side to 200k by the time my warranty runs out.

I stand corrected. I bought my truck new and opted out of the warranty at the time of purchase, but was interested due to the miles I pile up on it for work. I searched a bit on here and was set up with Troy in the link I posted above. Even though I had to pay a bit extra because I waited over 12,000 miles to buy one it still was waaaaay cheaper then the dealer was trying to sell a 5yr/100k to me for.
