I'm a master and i know how to figure this out but i thought there might b a ford guy out there that knows. I have a 2002 4.0 liter sohc that has jumped time on the right bank. My question is does it always bend valves when this happens and does it get all of them intake and exhaust? I know on a nissan it has to b more than three teeth and it only gets the intakes. And if it does it on start up it may not bend any. So are there any ford guys with that kind of knowledge on this engine?
But it likely did? And when it does does it get both? It's my personal veh and i wanna be prepared so i can get it done this weekend. I've done chains and cassettes on these before never on one that jumped. I have all the specail tools to do it was just hoping I might have to do valves. Because i have to order the intake valves.
You know you have to pull the motor to service the passenger side.
Every post I've seen here with a jumped chain has said the engine is toast, as in damage to valves and pistons and sometimes more.
These engines interchange pretty easily between years and models, as long as the induction and computer from your vehicle is bolted up to them. Mustangs too!!!
