4.0 liter sohc

I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer 4.0 liter sohc that has jumped time on the right bank. My question is does it always bend the valves if so is it intake and exhaust. Like i know on a Nissan when it jumps it has to be more than three teeth and it will usually only get the intake valves.
