4180 SPOT

When reinstalling it I found that the only way I could get it correct 100% of the time was to hold it against the filter element with a small screwdriver, then insert the assembly in to the carb.
I tried it a number of times and trying to hold it in place by hand failed more than 1/2 the time.
Now that I think about it, maybe this is a noob "discovery".
I just rebuilt mine and here's what I did with the inlet filter and connection to the hot fuel return.
I had some trouble getting the inlet fuel filter to seal leak free with the hard line running from the hot fuel return so I ran a piece of rubber fuel hose from the hot fuel return to the inlet filter. ! went with a Wix 33019 (NAPA 3019?) for the inlet filter as it's set up to receive a fuel hose. On the hot fuel return side I got a hydraulic line with the right flare fitting and cut it down to about 1 3/4 inch and secured the fuel hose to it with two hose clamps.
I've decided to go with a new Edelbrock carb. My 4180 is in bad shape and knowing my luck I'll get it apart and find it beyond redemption, or need other parts for it.
