I did something I've never done before, bought cheap diesel of a bloke down the street for my 7.3 IDI, almost immediately the truck started running rough, misfiring, hardly any power, top speed 15mph, drained the tank and lines, fitted new filter, filled up with fresh fuel but still running the same
Run a generic inline filter where the fuel line goes to (or is supposed to go to) the water separator on the drivers' side fender. If the fuel is just dirty you'll be able so see what is building up.
Fill your tank up and run it, even if it was gas, such a small percentage won't affect it.
We end up with some free fuel through work changing filters, and I messed up and didn't filter almost a gallon through a rag (just to catch the big stuff). Within a week my inline filter was so clogged with sludge, sand and who knows what the element was collapsing and the truck would die every time I'd hit a stop sign. Changed the filter, filled the tank, tossed in some diesel kleen and a couple quarts of ATF and just keep track of it now. No issues at all (I keep a spare filter with me though).
Tanks clean, lines clean, new filter, fresh fuel, **** loads of injector cleaner in new fuel truck will barley do 30 mph on the flat, no power at all. Where's best/cheapest place to get an Injector Pump? not many places will ship to the UK
Not many places have good ones in the US either, hope someone can chime in and help.
I've heard of people soaking the entire pump in a bucket of PB Blaster for a couple of days to get everything cleaned out. Haven't tried it myself though.
Just had a call from the shop, he says it looks like someone took a **** in my injector pump same with the injectors, looks like it just needs a good clean out then
