Ball Joints
I have a 2000 X with 45,000 miles and my dealer tells me I need new Upper and Lower Ball Joints for $750.
Is 45,000 miles a reasonable wear out period?
Is $750 a reasonable price?

45k seems about right, since you can't lube them. (sealed units)
I just did mine and the parts cost was about $240 with 4 new joints ($41 lower and 22 upper), new outer seals (30 each, dealer only) and inners at $15 each (dealer, but I hear you can get them aftermarket).
That leaves about $500 for labor.
Might try an independent mechanic or 4x4 shop.
