I build a cover out of ply wood ad 2X4s. It was suppose to be a temporary cover so I could my trip down to KY last year but since having it on the truck I have left it on. It comes in handy to have a secure place to store my tools and spare parts.
It's not too fancy and now that I like it I'll try to improve on it to make it nicer looking.
Here's the truck at a tire shop in IN halfway to KY.
I was recently thinking about making a hard cover out of fiberglass. Anyone have any suggestions on that idea. I've done fiberglass fabrication before....seems like a good light weight way to go.
I would think a wooden bed cover would accent a wood bed very nicely. It would maintain the bed wood "look" even when covered. As well as really stand out when opened for display.
Mine is rather heavy, I wish I had more time to do something using a lighter material.
I really hate fiberglass, I also did a lot of fiberglass work on trucks, itchy, itchy, itchy.
I was thinking of using a black sheet and impregnating it with resin, like all the "reality" hot rod and ghetto pimping shows do. They use fleece material but I'd just be covering my existing plywood to make it look better.
