1990 e350 7.3
My daughter was driving and said the truck just quit. I changed the oil since it was low thinking it may be a low oil shut off switch. No luck. So now I think its a fuel shut off but can't find it. I took off the black panel on the passenger side foot area and just saw another black box with a ground cable showing. No button.
90 7.3's (IDI< not powerstroke) don't have a low oil shutoff. If you have a 1990 van ti will have an IDI diesel and the fuel shutoff is on the injection pump in the center top of the engine. I think it is the one towards the front, the other one is the advance solenoid. With the key on you should hear a click from the FSS as you connect and disconnect the wire going to it.
It is hard to see in that pic, but I believe the red and yellow wire goes to the advance, the one you want is just an inch or 2 in front of that, the connecter and wire color are hidden by that black conduit.
Well its not tomorrow but I tried as you suggested and DID hear the clicking sound. Now I don't know. Fuel pump? How would I check that? something else?
