Just noticed as I was cleaning out the RV (E350 chassis V10) that under the RV was a piece of wiring enclosed in black plastic - it appears maybe squirrels were having a good time this past winter - the two wires inside the black plastic are one red wire and one purple wire with a white stripe. Have looked all through the engine compartment and other areas where I can see wires, but cannot locate a spot where this piece of wire (about 3 inches long) comes from. Have tried to find wiring diagrams but have had no luck whatsoever. If anyone would have any info about where this wire could have come from I would really appreciate knowing. Have tried all the lights, radio, heater, ac, etc. but all works fine. Please e-mail me at bikathom@charter.net if you have any clue to finding out where this wire might be coming from. Thanks.
If it helps a RED wire comes from the PCM power relay and is hot battery voltage with the key on. But this wire goes just about ever place. It will go to relays (fuel pump), Computer, Injectors, Transmission, to name a few of the places.
The purple wire with a white stripe if that is the true colors Ford's lists this wire to only go to three places.
They are:
1. Seat belt warning lamp to warning lamp switch.
2. Make ready switch to set speed switch.
3. Brake warning switch to indicator lamp.
Looking at your wiring diagrams I do not see the above three wires.
