Yesterday I bought a 1991 F250 with the 5.0 and a 4 speed for 320 dollars. its got crushed velvet seats out of a lincoln and the paints pretty bad, little cancer on the rear fender wells and the front leaves are shot. Where's the best place(cheapest) to get 4 new leaf springs? I can't tell if the truck is lifted at all and I know that affects the size of the springs. Its a lot taller than my friend's 94 chevy 1500 and shes got 35s on it.
Velvet seats from a Lincoln? Looks like you own the first ever F150 that belonged to a pimp. The hand grenade shifter is a nice touch as well.
Anyways, get under the truck and look for lifting blocks on the axle. Don't put too much stock in the height difference between your F250 and a Chevy. Especially seeing as how yours is a 4X4.
As far as replacing your leaf springs on the cheap goes? Your best bet is trying a salvage yard. I know LMC sells springs but you are looking at probably around $800 for all four.
Why would they be intended to be in the sagging arch? My buddy's chevy is arched like the rear... also my tires are sitting on the inner sidewall almost which to me means the front leaves need to me re arched or get new ones. http://www.generalspringkc.com/Leaf_...997_s/1870.htm
According to this they're arched...
Cause that's how it is, every leaf spring front suspension I have seen is invertedly arched. You say your buddies Chevy isn't. Well that's a Chevy for you, they prolly did it cause they were too cheap and lazy
but that website that sells new springs that I linked to the diagram shows them arched like the rear...
also I was looking around on google images just now and every pic that shows the front suspension, they're arched.
Front leaves on a 4x4 F250 are negative arch. Front leaves on a 4x4 F350 are positive arch. It's just how it is. Also, are you sure you have a 4 speed and not a 4 speed with OD? Ford stopped putting in 4 speeds after 87.
Is the shifter itself straight, or does it bend a few times before it goes through the floor? I just looked at the picture you have posted, and it sure looks like a 4 speed handle. Somebody must have put that in there after they bought it.
