3 Drivetrain Questions
1.
Sonnax offers for the AOD-Transmission a High ratio Boost Valve.
I found a lot of offers, but no experience report.
The description in the ads are always similiar:
When rebuilding high performance or heavy duty AOD units, many rebuilders wish to increase line rise over the OEM specifications. This is now easily accomplished by installing our large ratio pressure regulator boost valve kit 76990-04K. Not only will our sleeve and valve kit address poor line rise, direct clutch failure and soft slide shift complaints, due to the OEM sleeve being worn, but now it is available in a larger boost ratio.
But how does that effect everyday driving?
2.
I have still trouble with my AOD.
Now it shifts all right, but not into Overdrive.
I checked the Valve Body and the Servo.
But it seems that i have trouble with the OD-band
The band itself is new.
It's a Kevlar one
I bought it at Summit
But now I foud transmissionpartsusa.com and saw that i payed way to much at Summit and that there are 2 different widths available for the AOD - 1.5" and 2"
Are there also differences in the diameter?
and by the way - I never overhauled an Automatic Transmission before.
I layed the Friction Discs in ATF for 24h because I thaught they are like a Motorcycle clutch and they have to be soaked with oil before the installation.
Does that also count for the bands?
Because I installed the new OD-Band "dry"
3.
I'm thinking about to change the differential to a higher ratio, so I can drive with lower RPM at higher speeds.
But doesn't this affecte the Speedometer?
I mean the speed is measured at the Transmission and if the ratio in the diff is changed, the tires spin more than the shaft in the transmission.
I don't want to get a speeding ticket when I'm thinking I'm driving the right speed.
Is there a way to recalibrate the speedometer?
Or am I thinking wrong?
