I'm in process of converting rear brakes on my F250 to disc. Using 75 K20 parts. Got it all together, but there is no clearence between the rotor and pads. I can move the rotor by hand, but there is significant drag. The pads do have shims, but I thought those were for noise more than spacing. Can I remove them?
I also want to confirm that the spring clips are for the inner pad to keep it positioned in the piston. I'm guessing since I have no reference.
are the rotors new you are using? I had significant drag on mine had them turned . they ended up being warped. no more drag and spring clips I cant remember but probably
Yeah if your using new rotors you should have them machined. You can remove the shims to gain clearance and if it squeals they make a liquid disc brake quiet you can apply to the back of the pad.
The spring clip should go into the caliper piston to hold the pad in place.
