Duraspark 2 Ignition question

Duraspark 2 Ignition question
Hello to all, I have a question. I am trying to get my truck to run so I can move it. the truck is dismantled at this time, I need to know is it possible to get the dura spark2 to work with out the truck assembled?
It will spin over but no spark. have power to coil and wire that went to ignition switch. have tried other boxes with same result. am I frying the box by putting constant power to the ignition switch wire?
box is grounded, engine is grounded to frame, truck is down to chassis and drive train, wanted to make use of power steering while pushing it.
