Question from Ignition newbie

Im not much on ignition systems, and have a question guys.

I have a points style system on my 429 which hasn't run in a few years, out tinkering with it.....

Where should the positive and negative wires from the coil go? which goes to the distributor and where does the other go?

The wire from the points and condensor goes on the coil (-) post and the power feed from the ignition attaches to the (+) coil post.

got the - part figured out now, thanks, but the above quote about the + confuses me, what do you mean by power feed from the ignition, Do you mean literally some sort of ignition on power supply?

Yeah, when the ignition switch is in the run position, voltage will be supplied to the (+) side of the coil. This wire should travel through the harness back to the firewall at the fuse block where it goes to the ignition switch and is tied into the neutral safety switch on it's way back to the starter solenoid's (I) post on the fender well. I don't have a wiring schematic for your set up so I can't help you with the wire insulator colors.

It goes from the coil + to a resistor or resistance wire, and then to the ignition switch.
