wonder if the codes will even come up... i disconnect the battery when its parked...
well ill go for a drive and try and pull them.
my truck is a 93, and the trans came out of a early 90s... between 91-94 not sure eggs-actly
more to come
also linkage is all good.
"Also, if you shift into D, it will shift to OD automatically, unless you have the lockout activated (button on end of lever, light on = no OD)."
in drive from a stop it will shift fine into second from first, but stay in 2nd. i would have to drop the shifter into 2nd then back to Drive to get it to shift to 3rd. at that point it would shift to OD normally. the "tow" or lockout button was the least of my worries as i was working on getting it home- but earlier in the day i was towing my camper and used the "tow" button while going up a hill, it dropped down to 3rd like it should.
also all new fluid from when i put the trans in (about 7 months ago), color is good, and level is good
well ****.... just as i feared... any codes that may be been thrown are long gone when i disconnected that battery. im just getting my normal the EGR isn't working and you suck at getting sufficient RPM for that part of the test. also drove fine! shifted nice and smooth into all gears no matter if i babied it or held the peddle to it (up to 50mp as im not to near a highway)
ill keep the code reader in the truck, but i dont know how much towing ill be doing with it...
any ideas on what may cause this issue? any one else have a 2-3 shift problem? possible if it over heated a bit and went into limp mode- but i thought that would limit me to 2nd or 3rd no mater what.
on a related question... are there any other transmissions that will fit direct replacement ie no trouble with the t-case or having to worry about drive shaft length? also if i change trans can i keep the same computer, will the ecu ignore the fact that the e4od is missing? if i did a manual swap?
You need to leave the battery connected for awhile and drive the truck until it acts ups. At this point I suggest you should then run the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests. No reason to run the KOER until you can pass the KOEO tests.
