Blowing Massive Steam
Finally after work today, I put the torch to it. I was holding off because of worries of doing too much damage to the turbo bracket. Well no need for the worries, by being pretty careful, I barely roughed up the surface of the bracket. Nothing a little grinding and maybe a washer can't take care of.What was really surprising was the cut off bolt when I had the turbo out. With the capped bolt and tight fit between the turbo and its bracket, I wasn't very successful getting any PB to the threads. However, with the turbo out, I could spray the threads easily. Then a couple of whacks with the hammer on the cut off end for good luck and
Shazaam that #*!"+###@ bolt came out like it was on a brand new turbo!!
I never would have guessed that it would come out so easily after all the grief it caused the last couple of nights. Oh well I'm finally getting into the coolers now and can sleep easily at night now that I don't have to worry about that D@^%&$## bolt!
