4WD's with 30X9.50's...? Pics please.

Interested to see what a 4WD truck looks like with 30" tires. Any pictures you might have depicting that setup would be appreciated!

Thanks guys.

Here is mine with 265/75/r16 about 31". Anything lower would look too small in my opinion.

Toying with the idea of going with 30" tires in place of the 31's... a there are a few preformance advantages to the smaller/lighter tires but obvisiously the look may be odd.

I would stay with the 31 10.50 tires. Since you have a 351, I doubt you'll notice much if any difference in performance or fuel economy. I think that 31s are the perfect size for our trucks. I think that the 30 9.50 tires will look like the small stock tires on a 4wd, but do look alright on 2wd trucks.

dont have a good pic easily assessable at the moment but I will tell you this, I am glad that I went with the BFG 30x9.50 because although it may look kind IFFY in the back, it allows the wheels to articulate much further on my stock height 91' F150 4x4, especially in the front and I have zero worries about tire rub with them...also they can save a nice chunk o $$$ when you're buying a set or just individual tires. never had a problem with them and glad I went with them!

Check out my gallery pics that's 30x9.5 tires. IMO they look slightly less goofy than the original 235's and are still a smidge too small to be proportional.. that takes 31s or 32's, but with 3.55 gears and a 5.0 I wouldn't dare go any larger.. when I have a loaded dump trailer hooked up this thing is slooow.

Thanks guys. Do you think there would be a noticable increase in fuel economy and ride quality?

I was under the impression that 10.50 tires were too wide for the 7.5 inch rim.

Fuel economy.. I don't see it making enough of a difference good or bad to notice.. I had a set of 265/75-15s as well which were about 31" tall and you couldn't really feel much difference with them, but those BFGs are known to have a very stiff carcass so just about any other brand AT tire will be noticably better riding and if you were to put P spec(4ply) tires on it the ride would improve some again.. though you would lose some handling, rugedness, and offroad traction.

P.S. The reason I put 30" tires on my truck in the first place is because I found the 10.5" wide ATs offered pretty bad traction on snow covered roads so I wanted something narrower and this is all I could find at the time.

No that's an acceptable rim size for that tire and there are lots of guys here running them with no problem.

^ Good deal, thanks.

The 31's that were one the truck when I bought it, would wear in the center when inflated to "spec." Running 32-34 PSI on the current 31's seem to promote more even wear.

Tires should not be inflated to max rated pressure unless they are original spec for that vehicle and will see max load all the time. If you look at the calibration decal on the drivers door pillar you will see the recommended tire pressure for the original tires, but if the current tires have a higher ply count and load rating then you have to throw all that out the window. When I had a regular cab with 31" ATs I know I kept the rear tires down around 25psi unless loaded.. because at even 35psi I had no traction at all. Fronts on the other hand were always at about 35psi and I don't think I ever put 50psi in them.

My truck came factory with the Ford allow rims and 31x10.5 R15 tires, I think it looks great, even though I would like 32"-33" more (but this is a city DD, and I barely fit anywhere now...).

Some pics with the 31x10.5:

And these are the tires before I mounted them:
