Ford e150 ECU location

I have been looking for several months for the location of the vans computer. I think it's called either the ECM or ECU. Could some tell me where this unit is located? A picture would be helpful.

Thanks!

I think that year it is below the brake master cylinder. I don't have a photo of it.

I will look under the brake master cylinder. I will have to remove the windshield washer reservoir.

Try looking next to the MC, toward center of van. The computer mounts thru the fire wall. Basically only its large, bolted, umbilical plug is under the hood & the computer's guts are inserted thru firewall, inside the bowels, behind the dash.

I was looking at installing a performance chip for mountainous driving. We use the van for camping. It may be more trouble than it's worth. I have the 4.2 l v6. Most of the time I turn off the O/D when driving in the mountains.

Makes no difference why you were looking for your van's brain. It's still in same location.

Kind of surprised they even made a performance chip for the 4.2 V6?

Suggest you post a link to the item you're considering, so those with V6 experience can chime in on its maker's claims. May help you decide IF "It may be more trouble than it's worth"?

Note that it apparently isn't much trouble for the average Do It Yourselfer to install a typical performance chip.
